When someone steals your information it ruins your credit and you are a victim of identity theft. There is a strong possibility that you may never get every issue resolved. It is actually a business or profession for some thieves.
Many of the places you submitted your driver’s license and/or social security number is kept in their records indefinitely. Dishonest employees will sometimes sell your information to thieves. It can take hours to learn your rights as a victim as well as responsibilities.
The term 'identity theft' means a fraud committed or attempted by using the identifying information of another person without authority.
Victims of identity theft suffer emotional stress, trauma, frustration, and a position of “guilty” until you can prove your innocence. Once your information is sold or stolen, it can travel worldwide by the hands of thieves.
